This is a free-writing exercise. Write a paragraph (not exceeding 200 words) on any topic you like. Please be serious about this writing activity as I need to know exactly your personal style of writing. Do not cut and paste - I need to read a genuine piece of your own writing. Honestly i don't know what to write. 200 words is almost an impossible task for me. I'm sad to say that i don't enjoy learning English. My parents always pressurize me to buck up in my English, but i just can't. No matter how hard i try, my results still can't go above a C6. Other subjects is worst but i think English is more important compared to the other subjects. If i were to fail English during O lvl, there is no place for me to go. On the other hand, if i were to fail subjects like, combine humanities, physics or even chemistry, there is still other gates open up for me. Alright, now i'm stuck. i have no idea how to continue this. But i guess u should already have an idea how bad my English is. i'll end here for now.

 

Hope that the lessons from now on won't be as boring like the past years.

P.S sorry if my language is bad. I tried my best to make it "read-able".

Your first sentence is just an excuse. Try doing that during your exam!!

You are right on the part regarding failing your English.

"I guess" should never appear in your writing.

Your language is not "bad". Do not be apologetic about it. All you need is to firstly to do away with the errors and next to improve the quality of your writing.

Two Paragraph that I enjoy reading.

 

She gazed up at the ceiling;a decorative wooden lacework spun like an intricate spider's wed against the ivory white plaster. The walls were paneled in dark polished wood and hung with tapetries that glowed with bright, vivid colours.There were rolling green landscapes with distant blue, mist-shrouded mountain peaks, and finely embroidered seascapes with tall ships under full sail, heading toward a far horizon. on another wall, a wide land of golden cornfields seemed to stretch away forever beneath a sapphire sky. And on the fourth there were great cliffs of ice and snow, standing on their own perfect reflections in indigo water.

 

A hint of remembrance pricked the back of Anita's mind.There was a sense of longing in the tapestries, og a wistful yearning for farway places, that almost reminded her of something. But no, the more she tried to capture it, the more slippery the memory became. Was she really having faint flashes of a different life, or was it just her dreaming mind playing tricks on her?

Intro:

• Sometimes, i wanted to stay in my dreamland and never wake up.
• Dreamland is always peaceful, no arguments, no unhappy moments.
• But there is always a time we have to face the reality.

Para1:

• The perfect friendship in my Primary school..
• We gratuate, went to the same school and was fortunate to be in the same class.
• Spend most of our time together.
• I thought this kind of life will go on forever. But unfortuately, it didn't turn out that way.

Para2:

• She met a new group of friends and told me that she want to change the way her life is.From boring to interesting.
• She tried her best to blend into this group of new girls but no matter how hard she tries,she just cannot blend into their topics.
• We driffed apart.

Para3:

• I told her that these girls are making fun of her.
• But she say that's not true."They are just being kind to me"
• She is running away from the fact that they are not treating her like a friend but a slave.

Para4:

• When we are changing, these girls came in and started to say how fun it is to make Susan look like a servant while they are the princesses.
• Finally, Susan woke up from her dreamland and face the reality.

Conclusion:

• There is always an end to the dreams.It will not last "forever".

 

Comments :

 

Interesting interpretation of "running away". I would suggest that you spend more time writing about why she was "running away" from facing the reality of the situation. Otherwise, your essay might just be misinterpreted to be out of topic.

An occasion when a furious argument took place, based on a case of mistaken identity.

 

At last, Jane was able get off the uncomfortable chair and stop staring at the screen with full of numbers and alphabets. Working six days a week is such a laborious job. "Yes! Shopping is what i need now."Jane said with excitement to the phone. Jane and Mary walked down the street with bags of clothes, accessories and facial products in their hands.

 

Opposite the street, Jane noticed a middle aged woman staring at them.From the way the woman stare at them, Jane sensed that something is going to happen. "Mary, did u see the woman standing there staring at us?" Jane stop and point at the opposite street. "Are you dreaming? Nobody is staring at us.""No? I saw her just now." Jane turned to look at Mary."It must be your imagination. Let's go. I've got tons of things to buy." Mary's reply reminded Jane that she have not bought her shampoo.

 

They continue walking for awhile and suddenly, Jane felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned and saw a woman. "Elise, how have u been? It has been a long time since we met." Questions were building up in Jane's mind.Who is this woman?Elise? Who is that?

 

Without waiting for reply, the woman continued. "Do you remember the last time we met? I bet you must have forgotten. Let me refresh your memory. Remember the last meeting, you stole my proposal and treated it as yours! No evidence was left behind. You won and replaced my position in the company." Just then, passer-by began to gather around them.

 

"Wait.I-" Before Jane could clear her doubts, her left cheek had turned red. Mary took her phone and press 99-."What are you doing?" The mad woman snatched her phone and fling it on the floor."What Elise have done to me costs much more than a phone!I'm the breadwinner of the house and it was all because of you!"The angry woman pointed at Jane who was standing beside Mary."All my children are suffering!My boy is having kidney failure and the money is important to me!Give it back!.i want my money back!."She shouted and raised her hand for the second attack. She pulled Jane to her with her left hand and swing her right hand with all her might. Just that moment, two men dressing in blue uniform appeared. They took her hand and folded to her back. She struggled to set herself free, but the effort was wasted.

 

"I'm very sorry to cause this trouble.This woman manange to escape from the mental hospital a few days ago."Mary and Jane stood there stunned.The crowed dispersed leaving the two woman in dazed.

Marriage

 

With tears almost flowing down her cheek, Alice ran with all her might to the house opposite her's."Kenzi!Open the door please!" Alice bang on the orange coated wooden door and eventually squatted, facing the door with tears dripping on her lap."Alice!What happen to you?"A voice from behind travel through her ears."Come in quickly." She help her into the house.

 

At the dinning table, a cup of tea was served."Let me see your arms."Kenzi rolled up her long sleeves and exclaimed "He did it again?!" Alice nodded slightly. Red and blue marks were seen all over her arms. Taking her hands back, Alice rubbed her red eyes with the back of her hand."I can't stand it anymore. He have changed totally." Tears flow out again. Slient soon took over their conversation.

 

Memories started to flash in Alice's mind. the time they used to spend together were so wonderful and full of excitment. When she was unhappy, Gordan will put in efforts to make her laugh or smile. Flowers, diamonds necklaces and even cards were sent to her. Sometimes hen they are having dinner in resturant, Gordan will play piano and sang love songs. They were a perfect couple in everybody's mind. No one expected things to change drastically 2 months after their marriage.

 

Gordan started to return home late and seldom spent time with Alice. Things got worst after suffering a loss in a huge investment. Chairs were thrown at Alice when he was drank. At first, Alice forgave him as she convinced herself that he did not do it on purpose. However, things never get better. It become a habit to vent all his anger on Alice. Finally, Alice turn to Kenzi, her sister.

 

Kenzi patted softly on Alice's back and said in a soft voice. "We will report this to police and get a lawyer to settle your divorce." Alice wiped her tears and gave kenzi a hug.

1b) Sunlight that is reflected off the surface of the sea, makes it hard for the audience to see what is ahead.

1c)It shows that they are very excited about the results. (OK, but maybe not so much the results as the competition.)

2)The two judges will claim that the team that represent their village win. (Is this logical?)

2)If there is a tie, the two judges will claim that their team win.

3)First, there will be argument, follow by a fight between the two teams. (It's what had happened, not what will happen.)

4a)The word is "altercation".

4b)The gentlemen swing the eku in circle around him and make the sand rise causes" a whirlwind cloud of sand" (Hmmm...interesting answer. I'll have to think about this.)

4c)The movement of the eku have caused him to lose his grip. (???)

4d)The gentleman causes the sand to rise (sounds strange - how did he do that?) and irritate the eyes and throats of the people who are fighting.

4e)It is remarkable because he did not use violent (violence) to stop the fight. (What else?)

5)The author is saying that he hopes that the people that practices martial art will not hurt the others with it. (OK)

6)The word sport means a kind of recreation or a hobby. However martial arts is a more professional way of saying
