I stood there, frozen and stiff. Tears were trickling down my cheeks and my eyes hurting. I couldn't look at it anymore. I wanted to move it away but i was too scared. Scared of watching my future going down the drain in a flash. 21.... 21 points for my 'O' level examinations.
I had drifted far away from my goal of 11 points. How could all of this have happened? Maybe there was some mistake in marking. Or maybe its my parents' fault for not forcing me on my studies. Silly questions were clouding over my mind and adrenaline was rushing through my blood. How was i going to answer my parents? I will get a severe scolding from my parents.
I walked towards my mother, who had so much faith and trust in me. All of that faith and trust would be broken in the blink of an eye. Slowly, i approached her while dragging my feet. I stammered with fear, "I...I..scored twe...twenty-one po..points for my 'O' level exam....examinations". I dared not look and show my ashamed face. I always used to tell my mother that my 'O' level exams were quite easy. And i got this for an easy exam. That was so pathetic.
My mother just walked away. I guess she was much more hurt than i was to see me in this state. I just stood there, now with stream of tears gushing down like an unstoppable river. I got carried away with my lost hope. I just stood there, with all hopes lost......

A good attempt. Do away with cliches please - Tears trickle, tears roll, tears gush etc - ten thousand other students are using the same phrase and you are Number 10,001!! Read through your work again and remove those parts that are too exaggerated. Refine those that are rough and you should get a better piece of writing there.
Nancy Drew - The leaning chimney by Carolyn Keene
Taking care not to make a sound, they stepped cautiously as the voices grew more distinct. Presently the girls saw two men. Their backs were turned, and they seemed to be bending over something on a log. Unable to hear what they were saying, Nancy and George crept forward.
Nancy's attention was so fixed on the men that she did not notice a dry twig in her path. The next moment, there was a sharp crack as she stepped on the twig.
The girls heard a startled exclamation, followed by a hollow crash, as if something had dropped and broken. Without looking back, the men scooted into the brush and disappeared.
Comments :
Carolyn Keene writes in a simple style that is captivating too. Many of us will improve our writing much if we can just copy a few pointers from her writing. I must admit I used to read a lot of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books when I was younger.

Comments :
The year 2042. The weapons 20th Century. Doesn't really connect, does it? If you are so far out into the future, you won't be using the weapons of today and yesterday, especially if it is this STS that you are writing about. Again, I would suggest a local context - in this case, perhaps the SAF and names should also be local. You'll have to give more thoughts to your plot - too many missing links. I'll still give you credit for a unique story.

School Uniform (2004)
In this rapidly advancing society, we have different kinds of people with different religions. We have the rich, the poor, the middle-class and so on. Let's say you are in a shopping mall, you will see all kinds of people. On one hand, you will see people wearing heavy jewelleries and expensive clothes. On the other hand, you will see people in plain clothing. Petty crimes like robbery, theft and stealing are all born from this economic difference. People feel a twinge of envy when they see other people in possession of something that they do not have. This results in petty crimes. This is when a uniform drops in.
A uniform, as the name symbolises, is something that keeps us uniform. In other words, it hides all of our economic statuses and keeps us united. When we wear a uniform, our status is partially hidden from people's view. For example, in a school everyone wears the same uniform, it would be rather difficult to pick out the rich and the poor as they all look the same. Students tend to think that everyone in the school are from similar backgrounds and usually get along well. This reduces the occurence of petty crimes in schools and ensures a safe learning environment.
In schools, students forget about their backgroud status to unite as one through their uniforms. They become more aware of their surroundings and recognise their importance to the world. They develop an identity through this way.
A uniform represents our school, more like our 'second home'. Our school is responsible for our actions and deeds. For example, if a student is caught smoking or taking drugs by the public, his school will gain bad reputation. However, if a student produces good results that are competitive nation-wide, the school will gain nothing but good reputation and popularity. As the society becomes more competitive in the education field, the competition for better results becomes increasingly overwhelming. Students work hard to obtain good results and make their school proud and strive to make its uniform more prestigious to wear.
A unifom makes us much more matured. We become confident in our actions and think good of our school. Therefore i agree that a school uniform gives pupils a sense of identity and encourages good discipline.
