The June holidays have passed in a the blink of an eye (another cliche you can well do without) and I have just realized that I had wasted the perfect opportunity to study for my O levels. As always, I began to regret after my full time gaming in the thirty days break (sounds odd, you agree?). Not including the completion of my homework, I have not done a single revision of any of my subjects__. (This sentence sounds odd too) The only thing I thought about in the holidays was to kill my time. I have spent __most of ____time__ (what time?) sitting in front of my computer, either surfing the __world-wide-web (internet?) or gaming. Every attempt to revise my work have failed after seeing the excitement my brother had in his gaming.

As the common phrase says "Time flies when we are having fun" (is there such a phrase? Haven't heard of yet) , before I knew it, the precious thirty days break is over. I had spent it foolishly and aimlessly. Sometimes, I just wished that time could roll back so that I could make full use of it. However, what done is already done (cannot be undone?). Maybe it is just Man's nature to only cherish things that are going to be lost or are already lost, or maybe it is just my personality. It's yours and many people's nature to procrastinate - that is the biggest problem with many of us!

Comments :

Sentences are not constructed well. The other comments are above.

From my favourite author: Richard A. Knaak

Diablo: Legacy of Blood

Growing more horrified by the moment, the half-mad soldier struggled to his feet. Around him he noticed tall hills, even mountains, and the first glimmers of sunlight. Yet, none of them looked at all familiar. None of them at all resembled the peak in which he and his friends had discovered the tomb of bartuc. Norrec took a step forward, trying to get his bearings.

An unsetting creaking accompanied every motion.

Norrec looked down to discover that only his hands were clad in metal.

Armor. Everywhere he stared, Norrec only saw the same blood-colored metal plates. He had thought that his shock and horror could not possibly grow worse, but simply gazing at the rest of his body nearly threw the formerly steady soldier into complete panic. His arms, his torso, his legs, the same crimson armor now hid all. To add to the mockery, Norrec saw that he even worse Batuc's ancient but still serviceable leather boots.

Comments :

I've read a similar essay elsewhere. So be very careful when you craft your story. It could be a similar plot but make sure you write it in your own style and with your own ideas. Do not be influenced by what you read. If you remember coming across a similar story, you must conscientiously try to avoid copying the ideas.

2004 Paper One

2.Write about an occasion when a furious argument took place, based on a case of mistaken identity

"Help!" an old lady shouted. Immediately, I gave chase to the man who robbed the lady's handbag. The man dressed in black wearing a black sunglasses dashed across the road climbed over the barrier and ran out of sight. Seeing that it is almost impossible to catch up with him, I went back to the lady and asked how the situation took place. After describing the situation to me, I suggested that this case should be reported to the nearby neighbourhood police station. She agreed with me and I accompanied her to the police station.

When we have reached the neighbourhood police station, we were directed to a room. We settled down and reported the case.

We described in details what exactly happened, telling him how it happened, the time in which the incident occur, the venue where it took place and the appearance of the robber. After describing everything we had in mind, he told us that similar cases have been reported recently and that he would investigate into thie case.

While we were walking out of the station, still pondering about the incident, we saw the robber sitting on a bench in the nearby garden. I, certain that he was the culprit whom stole the lady's handbag, ran to him and pinned him on the bench. "You can't get away now! Now, return the handbag!" He, seemingly innocent, freed his hand and pushed me aside. He yelled furiously "What is wrong with you! I don't even know who you are!" Immediately, the attention of the people nearby was focused here. I replied " Stop denying! Hand over the handbag now!" and he replied "What are you talking about, stop maligning me!" The argument continued, raising our voices each time we reply.

Upon hearing the noises created outside the police station, a few policemen came to the scene. Interrupting the argument, one of the policemen asked "What is going on here?". Thus, I explained that the man was the culprit who robbed the old lady a while ago. The man immediately interrupted, saying that he is innocent. Seeing that it is such a complicated situation, the policeman took us to the police station. We were then directed to seperate rooms in which we make our statements. After looking at our statements, they investigated into the case thoroughly.

After days of investigation, the old lady and I were called up to the police station. We were told that the robber and the man whom I accuse were twins, thus looking alike. We were also told that the robber has been tracked down and caught with the help of the twin brother. The policemen then returned the stolen handbag to the old lady. The lady thanked me for everything that I have done to help her and we left the police station.

Although the case was closed, I felt very uneasy for accusing the young man in the garden a few days ago, making him feel embarassed. Moreover, in order to help us retrieve the stolen handbag, he worked together with the police to help to arrest his own twin brother. I, feeling guilty, decided to apologise to him personally. Thus, I went back to the police station and asked for his address, explaining that I owe the man an apology. After receiving his address, I went to his house. Initially, he seemed very unpleased, but after all my explaination and apologies, he decided to forgive me. I was then served with drinks and snacks and we chatted happily.

After apologising, I felt so relieved and it seems as if I have removed a burden from my shoulder. As it was already very late after I left the man's house, I went back home, took a bath and went to sleep.
